Earthquake Fiji Islands – August 19, 2018

On 2018-08-19 at 00:19:37 UTC (= 02:19:37 CEST) a major earthquake of magnitude Mw = 8.2 occurred near Fiji – followed by several aftershocks.

The hypocenter was located at a depth of about 565 km, the large surface waves reached Göttingen at about 02:38:15 CEST (see overview registration). Thus, for the 16240 km to Göttingen they needed about 18.5 minutes.
